A wickedly cool place with gothic infrastructure, booths in caves volcanoes in the dance floor Kalima statues in every nook and cranny

This shoot racks up to be my second longest shoot ever! lasting for a total of 8 hours.
It was dark when we finished and funny walking to my car and seeing the men surreptitiously leaving the brothel from down the street.

obviously most of the stuff I have written there is just space filler for the eventual text. so don't take it too seriously

any tips, critique and whatnot would be appreciated.

Some stuff I want to say
[info]jesikate
My favourite authors are Juliet Marillier, Garth Nix and Robbin Hobb.
I work part time in a DVD store and also as a promotional model for a major international alcoholic company.
I am a lazy student, I do not do homework. I rely on my raw talent and luck to get me through assignments. Fake it till you make it.

The last movie I watched was Across the universe.

I am technically a Catholic, although I do not not practice the religion. I have faith, I just do not know to what.

My favourite colour is red. My hair is now red. The walls in my bedroom are red. I am wearing Red shoes.

I like bacon but hate ham.

My mobile ring tone is the Superman theme tune.

Ive been getting the same sandwich from subway for the last three years,
Wheat bread, double Swiss cheese, lettuce, ALOT of olives and honey mustard dressing Sn' P.

The most played song on my ipod is Soon from the Thumbelina movie sung by Jodi Benson.

Had a shoot today, set inside my house and at a nearby bus stop. frick the other model was a hottie.

shoot photos
[info]jesikate

So I was on this shoot a while back, that consisted of me just walking around the streets of Perth, no doing a whole lot. its was..different. One of the few photographers Ive worked with that still used a film camera.

all photography by D.Crombie.

damn that place stank.

abandoned houses make for such great photo ops.

Outfit change! minnie mouse style.

it was way scary standing on that wall wearing four inch heels.

last shot of the day. see a familiar house?  While shooting this I spied the house in the background and thought i looked interesting. I re-visited the place a few weeks later on one of my own shoots.

ciao ciao

Admired the view of the Indian Ocean and
Entered a modeling competition all because I have an essay due tomorrow morning.
I only started it two hours ago.

Bunbury light magic workshop.
[info]jesikate
Some more pics from a recent modeling job.
I was contracted to work for a group of Perth photographers (PIP) for a 'Light Magic Workshop' in Bunbury.
Bunbury is a big, little town about 2-3 hours drive south of Perth, where I live.

The friday we arrived and did the make-up/outfit tests, which eventually turned into an impromptu photo shoot.

Getting ready with Julz the make-up artist/artistic director.

happy snap with Rhian (the other female model)

Saturday we headed of to Koombana beach for a pirates of the Caribbean themed shoot.
I was Elizabeth Swan ala the first movie. all helpless maiden like.
Julz with the male model.

I threw myself into the oceans mercy, to simulate a shipwreck victim.

The water was so rough, the entire backside of my dress was ripped apart

just a bit wet

That night after dinner

We went to Dr. Telsa's house for a very cool demonstration.

Today was shoot weekend.
I had three shoots planned for this weekend, one on Saturday and two on Sunday.

I am in the middle of editing the last one, and need a break.
After looking at  about 700 photos this weekend and watching 4/6 Lord of the Rings extended special features my eyes are kinda tired.
so I am taking a time out to blog.

I'm am very angry about Saturday, nothing went as planned :(
Here is what happened:
The location was set for cottesloe beach. I wanted to shoot  whilst the tide was out, meaning a very early wake-up call.
I had been out clubbing the night before, head hitting the pillow around 3am.
7:30am the alarm goes off....fuck.

do all the usual checks before i leave: costumes, battery, memory cards, lights, fuel.
check, check, check, check, and check.
Get to the meeting location and buy myself a hot chocolate and two coffees for the model and her BF escort.
10 mins past meet time, send a sms.
20, give her a call, no answer. 30 mins call home to check email: nada.
after 1+ 3/4 of an hour later and several sometimes anxious sometimes forceful phone calls and texts still no model. grrrr......
Flake!

its been  three days since then and still have not received any kind of response from her, despite noticing she has been active on her MM account and my messages are marked as read.
So I have wiped my slate of her.
I worked that night in a nightclub, and whilst trying to talk over the top of loud music and people I lost my voice.
My voice is barely more than a whisper, Ive actually had to have my mother make phone calls for me and write her a script.
One up side though is I did not have to answer any spot questions in class today :P

onto happier times: Sunday!
The two models I shot Monique and Amy are best friends in RL, so that was nice.
Monique was first, The theme was inspired by buffy and a previous shoot of mine:

lots of pleather, dark styling and high fashion poses and popping colours. kinda vampish.

meet Monique, a cute doll faced blonde:
The location was an alley way in the inner city, situated behind Mcdonald's and other dis-reputable fast food restaurants. The place was full of cardboard boxes, weird stains and puddles, rubbish bins, crates and colourful graffiti.
This is the only Behind scenes shot I got
I asked Monique to jump inside a dustbin which had some interesting bricks and concrete shapes.

You can see all of the final photos on my Flickr account here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jessicatruscott/
and few of the photos:

Onto the afternoon shoot.
Meet Bree (left)  and Amy (right)

Bree is a talented young make-up artist, who Ive not work with before,  but hope to be doing so on a regular basis in the future.
Se we started the preparation in my backyard. the day was too nice to stay indoors.

tools of the trade

We wanted BIG hair, so lots of backcombing and crimping.
The theme was for night fashion with a animal twist running through each outfit. so we had lots of fur and leopard prints wooden accessories and feathers, even a stuffed zebra named Harold.

because of my voice i had to constantly be drinking tea, was also showing Amy some un-edited shots of her friend from that morning

The location was a rather creepy, abandoned house in the city.
There was so much graffiti (which I really like for photos) there was trash everywhere, evidence of drug use, squatters and even a suspiciously bloody  shirt.
To get upstairs we had to climb over banistairs, walk across the tin roof and climb through a broken window to get inside.
climbing through the window:

inside:

before moving into new rooms my sister and i would shout out  "Hello! is anyone here?, we are coming in. If you want us to leave just give us a shout and we will, no trouble!" it was really dodgy.
There had been a fire at one point, and much of the flooring had fallen though.

My sister Sarah came along to hold  reflectors and speed lights. I call her my reflexpert, or reflexologist.

She gets bored alot.

Changing hair and make-up for an outfit change.

Bored again

holding up a fur blanket as a make shift backdrop.
That is Harold the Zebra on the left.

and something else happened to make me even happier after a good day. I was scheduled to work again that night, but the event was canceled at the last minute. because of the late notice i still get paid for not doing anything :D love when that happens.

now back to editing.........

no model management from chadwicks
[info]jesikate

Dear *******,

Thank you for your enquiry into Chadwick, unfortunately we are unable to offer you a place on our books. There are various factors which contribute to our decision. Modelling is a very competitive profession and unless we are sure that we can offer a good selection of work to new applicants we would advise against taking the matter further. I would like to thank you for your interest in Chadwick Model Management and wish you every success for the future.

Kind regards. such and such

bummer, I want to know why. was it me or my pictures, or them?

Want to know what happens in at graveyard at midnight with a full moon?....

Photoshoot! That’s what.

So Yesterday arvo I set of for to E's house to get my make-up done. Living south of the river it took me ages to get there and i was a little late (granted I had to stop off at three different petrol stations to find one that was open).
E (the makeup artist) is a cool chick, she put on 'Two Towers' whilst doing my makeup and we spent most of the time chatting about the behind the scenes features of the movie. Yay for geekism!

Next in the crew to arrive is A the clothing designer. Purveyor of  dark and gothic clothing she had designed  a long black sequined dress with black lace  cape, chocker and red cincher. very glamorous and Elvira like. I ended up buying the black dress from her after the shoot because it was purty.

Next came T the hair stylist, she worked her magic and at the end of the session I had a hairstyle glamorous enough to rival Dita Von Teese, with brushed out curls at the back and a huge barrel curl fringe about two inches high. it was mucho awesome.

S the photographer and J his assistant stopped by to say hey, before going ahead to the cemetery to scout a location. When all the beautifying was done, we were on the road. Vroom!
Stopping of at maccas for coffee and snack, I was dared to go in and buy all the munchies, entertainment factor being that I was in full Goth mode.

I felt uncomfortable posing in and amongst the gravestones at first, but we laid a candle at every one we used and said a quick hello and apology to each person, so the uncomfortable-ness soon passed. We were very respectful and only used graves that where from the late 1800's
It became quite fun crawling around headstones and clawing at dirt as if I were some demonic creature rising from the grave. A ghostly wraith forever pacing the trenches searching for a forgotten lost treasure.

Everyone was awesome, and detailed in there jobs. We took each shot slowly so every frame was touched up and perfect. No flyaways or fabric wrinkles for us, oh no.
I'm very happy with how the whole thing went down, I think the images will be awesome I cant wait to see them.
we finished shooting just after midnight, when we couldn’t stand being sucked dry by vampires.
...err I mean mosquitoes.

It took me about an hour to get home, and then I was up for another hour reading Buffy the vampire slayer comics because i was in the mood.

I am still waiting on two or three shoots to finish prost-production before I approach a modeling agency.
Make me nervous to think about it, what if they dont want me?
I know Im an 3 centimeters shorter then the minimum height, but really is 3cm that important?

bus books
[info]jesikate
I am embarrassed to read twilight on the bus to and from work.

I need to find the cover of another book to put over the top of braking dawn to disguise it.

Fire engine
[info]jesikate

I dyed my hair a few days ago. I went from a greenish blonde with three inches of  brown roots to fire engine red.
boom baby!

its kinda bizarre through, whenever i picture myself doing anything now I still see myself as a blonde.

the red hottness comes with a downside though.
I work for a major alcoholic company doing promotional modeling work. I was scheduled  for a shift on new years eve which was the leprechauns pot of paychecks. Seriously i would have gotten $500 for three hours work. ka--ching.
now i cant do it, because my manager wanted four blondes on that night not  3 goldies and a red.
damnit!

I am Free!!!!
[info]jesikate
free like a wild bird.
Today was my last day in my second year of university. *yay!* Here's to long days under the hot Aussie sun.
one more to to go then I will have my degree in hand.

in truth I  kind of said goodbye to uni life a few weeks ago. I stopped stressing about assignments, and took on the mentality of "Do no stress, everything will be coolio"

I recently was contacted by a Swedish musician "Phanatos' about them using one of my photos in a video.
official website is here- http://www.phanatos.com/main.htm
I really like their music, and just ordered a CD. lovely dark romantic melodies, it sweeps you up like an epic movie soundtrack. I am listening to it now.
perfect background music for reading Juliet Marillier's  new book 'Heir to Sevenwaters' <3 <3

I am a boring person- first entry.
[info]jesikate
I think I am a boring person. I never have anything to say. When people ask me what are the reasons of being so quite, I like to think i live by the motto of 'you can not regret what you have not said' or 'If you do not have anything nice to say, do not say anything at all' but really when it comes to communicating, my mind draws blanks.

I am afraid to leave messages on phones, and get frightened when i hear my phone ring (thank heavens for caller I.D)

I feel like the journal is going to become a kind of confessional.
forgive me livejournal, for i have blogged.
